Crochet Adventure

A few months ago I got in the mood to crochet.  I have made lots of scarves in the past, and I'm currently working on my 5th blanket.  (By currently, I mean I've been working on this blanket for almost 4 years...  For some reason, I just can't get in the mood to finish it!)  But I wasn't wanting to work on the never-ending blanket, I wanted to make something fast.  Something with an ending in sight right from the beginning.  Lucky for me, in February, one of my good friends had a little baby girl.  And in March, another good friend's baby girl turned 1!  So I tried my hand at crocheting baby clothes.  I had never followed a pattern for clothes before, so it was definitely an adventure.  My first project was a little hat.

{Pattern can be found here.}
It took a few tries because I had a couple issues with the pattern, but it came out alright!  I made the hat so quickly that I had to try something else.  Attempt number 2 was an adorable little cardigan.  This was definitely a challenge!!

{The original pattern is, unfortunately, no longer available online.  However, you can find an "upsized" version of this pattern here, which will fit a baby around 6-12 months.}

The buttons were my favorite part of this one!!  The yarn I used was SO soft.  I loved it.  I have some left over, and I'm thinking about making a scarf for myself this fall.  :)  My final baby project was a cute little dress.  This one was probably the easiest of the 3 to make.

{Pattern can be found here.}

I really liked the iridescent buttons on this one, too.  (The buttons are on the back of the dress.)  Unfortunately, the hat and the dress might have been a little too small for the cute girls I sent them to, but maybe their mommies will have baby girls in the future who can wear them!!  ;)  I haven't made anything else since I finished the dress.  Someday I will get in the mood to finish that blanket!!

2nd Anniversary

On June 20th, 2011, Travis and I celebrated our 2nd anniversary!  We decided to spend the evening in San Francisco.  Travis had never ridden the cable cars before, so it seemed like a good opportunity to do so.  We started the date off by parking in Union Square and walking around some.  We then waited in line for the cable cars to take us to Ghirardelli Square.  (All of these pictures are from our phones.)

                                            Waiting in Line                                   Finally Near the Front!

Our Cable Car  :)
We had so much fun riding through San Francisco, hanging off the side of the cable car!  We were able to get some great views without any leg work.  :)

After getting an ice cream shake to share at Ghirardelli, we walked over to the Fisherman's Wharf.  It was a beautiful day in San Fran!  Sunny and warm.  The high was around 75.  There were lots of gulls walking around the wharf, too.  This one was determined to swallow that huge piece of bread whole.  :)  He didn't succeed.

We rode the cable car back to Union Square for dinner.  About halfway through the trip, the car came off the cable.  Ha!  So we sat in the middle of a random street for about 15 minutes while they fixed it.  We ate dinner at the Cheesecake Factory, which is on the roof of the Macy's building.  It was so fun!  I've never eaten at a rooftop restaurant before.  Here was our view during dinner.

After the sun finished setting, our phones wouldn't take any more pictures worth posting.  I tried to take a picture of my pretty drink, but it was too dark!  We had such a great time eating under the stars.  :)  It was a perfect night!
